How often should I apply board butter? This greatly depends on how often you use it. For end grain boards we recomend a light application every week for the first month or so, and then whenever it looks dry thereafter - maybe once every 3-6 months. For long grain boards, we recomend applying another coat of board butter within the first few weeks, and then as needed after that.

Where are your products made?We make everything on site, right here in Louisville CO.

Why do your end grain cutting boards have feet? Our end grain boards are typically on the larger and heavier side, so adding feet provides a number of benefits. They make it easier to pick-up the board from lying flat and it keeps the board more stable while using it. Finally, the added air circulation helps prevent moisture build-up and as such prevents warping.

What is the difference between end grain and long grain cutting boards? The majority of our boards are long grain cutting boards - they are more cost effective as they are much quicker to make. End grain cutting boards are often preferred by real enthusiasts as they offer a number of benefits. First, because the grain is oriented in the same direction as your knife edge it allows your cutting edge to stay sharper, longer. Secondly, the boards tend to be bigger and heavier, which adds a lovely tactile feel to your cooking. It is worth noting that end grain boards do require a little more TLC - they can dry out quicker than long grain boards, so will require reapplication of our board butter.

How should I store my board? If your board has feet, it can be stored lying flat on it's feet or vertically. If your board does not have feet, it should be stored like your favourite vinyl album - on it's side. This prevents moisture being trapped that will cause your board to crack. It is surprising how little moisture this takes, so please be warned...
-
Are my boards food safe?Yes, we use food grade board butter to finish all of our products that are intended to come into direct contact with food.
-
I already have one of your boards, can I still get it engraved by you?Absolutely. Just reach out to us through our contact form and we can make it happen.
-
Do you supply larger batches direct to businesses? We'd be happy to work with you on bulk pricing and customisation to your requirements, just reach out to us using the contact form.
-
What other finishes do you use?For products that are not going to come into regular contact with food we use either a hard-oil finish or a polyurethene varnish. On some products, usually our laser cut products, we will either leave them unfinished or coat with a spray laquer.
-
Can I put any of your products in the dishwasherNo. As with any real wood products, the combination of heat, extended exposure to moisture, and harssh chemicals, will ruin your board and it will not be covered under our returns policy.
-
We love big roast meals, and as such want juice grooves - do you do those?Absolutely - we can add juice grooves to end grain boards on request. We typically leave them off to offer the largest cutting area and easier board cleaning, but we totally understand the added functionality of juice grooves and would be happy to add them for you.

Can I use my board as a trivetPlease don't. This can lead to burn marks or warping and cracking. If you want a trivet, we sell those too!
